Guided Tours for Groups
Stunning ancestral home, cradle of the little Vachon cakes. Learn how Joseph-Arcade and Rose-Anna and their descendants transformed the Vachon Bakery into a real institution.
Many artefacts and fascinating guided tour!
The Maison J.-A. Vachon located in Sainte-Marie, is about 20 minutes from the bridges of Quebec City by the 73 South. It’s the ancestral home of Vachon cakes – a treat and dessert company. With the help of a guide, you will learn how a modest family was able to develop a business with dedication and ingenuity. Classified as an “historic monument”, the house takes you back to when Rose-Anna baked small cakes with her wood-stove. You will also be able to have a look at the first cookbook where Rose-Anna listed all the recipes that were used at the beginning and see how much it cost to run the small business by looking at the account books of the family. You will finish your visit with a small video of the factory’s history and the making of the Vachon treats. At the end of the visit, you will receive two cakes.
“Baladeur Mariverain” tour stop.
