Located on a peaceful wooded land by the Cumberland River, Auberge Manoir Taylor Manor (1919) is located 10 km from downtown and just five minutes from a gorgeous 18-hole golf course. It boasts 7 Victorian-style rooms magnificiently decorated, with Egyptian cotton sheets and soft towels. Private or shared bathrooms. Hot breakfast and full-service dining room. A skating rink is located by a golf course.
The Manor welcomes guests throughout the year, for weekly, weekend, or overnight stays, which include a sumptuous breakfast at one of two sittings each morning. Restaurant and event services are also available.
The Manor is the former seat of Thomas John Taylor, the feudal Landlord of the 7000 acre estate known as Cumberland Mills. The Manor sits on a 7-acre well-treed property, overlooking Harbottle Creek, and adjacent to and part of the 350,000 sq ft English-style Harbottle Garden, as well as the 160 year-old St-Paul’s Anglican Church, built of field stone in 1847. Both these sites are operated by the St-Simon Historical Society, with year round events, including classical music concerts in the 100 seat church each Sundays, as well as ice-skating on the lake in the winter and a series of Christmas Pageants, which blend both French dialogues and English Christmas Carols, popular back in the early 1900’s. The all volunteers cast dress in costumes of the period involve the entire audience of Max 100 per show, while acting out the roles of the actual English-speaking residents of Cumberland Mills back then, while weaving in the history of the seignieury.
This tranquil country setting, surrounded by woods, overlooking a trout steam, offers year round opportunities for fun and/or exercise. Whether 18 holes at the nearby golf course, or cross-country skiing, ATV or snowmobile trails, or just soaking up the tranquility of Route Taylor, following the undulating Harbottle Creek, babbling nearby. There is even a swimming hole across from the Manor.
The seven sumptuously decorated, turn-of-the-century bedrooms include 4 with queen beds, 1 double, and 2 single bedrooms, all swathed in Egyptian cotton sheets, and each room has a supply of 5-star hotel-rated plush towels. Three of the 7 bedrooms have their own shower or tub and a sink. The four larger West-wing rooms share a water closet, and the three smaller East-wing rooms share a full bathroom.
